My work is to construct in such a way as for them not to fall down.

Even when someone leans against or crashes into them with great force. That’s my main task. Amongst the things I design are long steel beams for suspending cars or multi-storey constructions the size of a house for some exhibition in Germany or France. I also try to ensure that my notes and technical literature is always elegantly arranged on my desk. In the first aim I succeed, in the second not so much.

I deal with the structural stability and dynamics of construction, principally specialising in designing metal, wooden, and recently glass constructions through the use of the most modern computer equipment and the finite element method.

If I’m not sitting in work I’m probably on my way there by bike and because cycling, apart from serious health problems, can also induce a good mood, I try to cycle even when it’s raining cats and dogs. If it’s the weekend you’ll probably find me on a trip somewhere or with my guitar.
